As Swift Foundation embarks on its journey of spending down, we embrace this transformative phase with gratitude and purpose. The Sunset to Sunrise journey signifies not an end, but the promise of new beginnings—where the sun sets on one horizon only to rise on another.
Our commitment to channeling resources into projects that empower Indigenous Peoples and Mother Earth’s care remains steadfast. This spend-down process is a deliberate and reciprocity-driven endeavor that reflects Swift Foundation’s dedication to creating lasting change through community-led initiatives.
This pivotal moment in our foundation’s history is about deepening the connections that shaped our path and ensuring these relationships continue thriving. Through strategic investments, we aim to echo the voices and visions of those we serve, forging pathways of resilience and innovation that illuminate the future.
Join us in exploring this journey through interactive storytelling, where the legacy of our work is captured in stories, partnerships, and a shared vision. As we stand at this intersection of endings and beginnings, we share the narrative of impact and transformation through stories from the field – illuminating the spirit of Sunset to Sunrise.
Celebrating a New Sunrise: Join the Live Stream of the Iskonawa Cultural Maloca Inauguration
We, Swift Foundation, invite you to a significant event celebrating Indigenous leadership, cultural resilience, and the vital concept of “Buen Vivir”. Join us for the traditional inauguration of the Iskonawa Cultural Maloca in Chachibay, Peru. This event is a powerful testament to the vision and determination of the Iskonawa people.
Through this livestream, we aim to honor the Iskonawa people’s leadership and the enduring work of the Organization for the Development and Common Good of the Iskonawa People (OBDEPI). This initiative showcases an integrated approach that connects culture, economy, and environment, promoting self-determination and ancestral knowledge.
The Maloca will serve as a multifunctional center and a meeting point for Iskonawa families. It will also serve as a “safe house” for those in voluntary isolation. Its design blends traditional architecture with sustainable local materials and community artisan work, symbolizing resistance and cultural revitalization. It will foster Iskonawa food systems, language revitalization, traditional medicine, and the defense of ancestral territories.
This event is a powerful demonstration of the Iskonawa people’s commitment to their identity and future. It embodies cooperative Indigenous work based on solidarity, complementarity, and reciprocity. The active participation of women, youth, and elders ensures a deep integration of all community members, promoting a sense of belonging and commitment. The Maloca is more than a building; it is a symbol of commitment, resistance, innovation, and hope. We are proud to have supported this initiative through collaboration as part of our Spend Down strategy.
We invite you to join this celebration and witness firsthand how the Iskonawa people are building a resilient future grounded in their rich cultural heritage and ancestral lands. Join us virtually to witness this significant moment for the Iskonawa community:
